Have you taken advantage of the Energy Opportunities Program from CL&P?  Energy prices continue to rise so now is the time to make improvements to your facility and have up to 100% of the incremental costs covered by incentives/rebates.  I hope you find the following information valuable and pertinent to your business.  All the information listed below was taken directly from the CL&P website.

Objective: The Energy Opportunities* (EO) program objective is to improve the energy efficiency of a customer's existing facility by capturing retrofit opportunities. These opportunities are realized by: 1) exchanging functioning yet inefficient equipment within the commercial or industrial environment with higher-efficiency equipment; 2) retrofitting existing equipment with energy-saving devices, modifications, or controls; and 3) improving a facility's building shell or facility's performance. For more information, call 1-877-WISE-USE (1-877-947-3873) or visit:
http://www.cl-p.com/clmbus/target/custom.asp
.

Incentive Strategy: Prescriptive incentives/rebates will be offered for smaller typical lighting projects. These incentives/rebates are intended to pay for up to 100% of the incremental cost of purchasing energy-efficient lighting equipment/controls versus the standard efficiency equipment, and are calculated on a dollars per unit basis. A simple form that is completed by the customer or the customer's contractor will expedite the rebate process. In addition, prescriptive incentives are offered for other common energy-efficiency measures.

Some typical measures include:

Lighting
 T8, T5, and osuper-T8⠝ fluorescent fixtures
 Hard-wired compact (PL) fluorescent fixtures
 Pulse-start metal halide fixtures
 Daylighting controls
 Automatic dimming/occupancy sensors

HVAC
 Premium efficiency chillers
 Rooftop or split-system AC equipment
 Variable frequency drives (fans/pumps)
 Differential enthalpy economizer controls
 CO2 controls for HVAC systems
 Energy management systems

Motors
 Premium efficiency motors

Refrigeration
 Ammonia refrigeration systems
 Mechanical subcoolers
 Evaporator controls
 Oversized condensers

Process Equipment
 Compressed air systems
 Process controls
 Process cooling systems

Important Arc Flash Information
Based on previous statistics, it's expected that the explosive energy released during arcing faults will send more than 2,000 workers to burn centers this year. Most of these people will not have been properly warned of the magnitude of the hazard - if they're warned at all.

Although injuries from an arc blast are not as frequent as other injuries, their severity makes the costs to human life and to industry as a whole much, much greater. The monetary cost alone can easily exceed
$1 million, and includes not only medical expenses, but the costs of equipment replacement, downtime
and insurance.

Brad Power® Connection Systems

Provide Flexible Solutions to NFPA-79-2002

Brad Power connection systems for power distribution. Recent changes to NFPA 79-2002 allow the use of factory applied connectors molded onto cables for line voltage, communications and low-voltage industrial machinery applications. Brad Power products are modular, flexible, scaleable and code-compliant quick-connect wiring solutions that offer lower installed cost and faster commissioning of industrial machinery. Flexibility and low cost is achieved by eliminating the need for conduit to run power throughout industrial machinery. Using Brad Power dual rated STOOW and TC/Open Wiring rated quick-connect cordsets allow a trunk/feeder line to be installed along the machine's structure with convenient access points for power to be dropped to field devices such as motors, lights, heaters and other electrical devices.        More information   View Datasheet

Plastic-Coated, Shatterproof Fluorescent Lamps

Shat-R-Shield offers a variety of plastic-coated, shatterproof fluorescent lamps. Fluorescent lamp types include Standard, High Output, Very High Output,
U-Shaped, Reduced Mercury, Black Light and Gold Lamps. All Shat-R-Shield fluorescent lamps are coated from end to end with our exclusive patented coating. If a lamp is dropped or broken, virtually all glass, phosphors and mercury are safely contained within our coating. Our coating contains antioxidants to prevent yellowing, cracking or flaking. Our standard coating reduces light output by less than 1%. The minimum thickness is 16 mils thick. We offer many products with a UV-blocking coating that can block ultraviolet emissions from 180 to 390 nanometers.
